In the Moment in December

In December Anxiety is a constant companion. I live with it all day and dream anxious thoughts at night. Definitely my anxiety switch has been turned on. Every December this happens and it can be intense. My salvation is mindfulness…living in the moment.

Anxiety wants me to either relive the traumas of the past (a near death experience at Christmas time) or worry about potential traumas in the future. Since the past is over and the future is unknown, the only reality is the moment. Usually the moment is rather uneventful. How can I do this? First I start with a mediation, like a body scan and then pick a key phase whenever my mind wanders, “Let Go and Let God (or a HigherPower)”. When my mind settles I can think more clearly about what is really going on..
