Hospital visit in Covid times

Last week I had abdominal surgery. I had a big room and a large TV. However, during the 4 days I was there I had the potential to totally freak out. I have Krones Disease and the surgery was to get scar tissue out of my intestines. The hospital experience was dreadful. The staff was fine but post surgery demands during Covid that I wear a mask when anyone was near me. Then I got blood work, medicine, and shots every few hours on a 24 hour schedule. When I left the hospital I was exhausted from lack of sleep. I lived through it by staying in the moment. I used my audible app to listen to 4 books and watched 3 movies. I also meditated. My brain was on the verge of catastrophizing as I sat in my hospital bed so I had to busy my thoughts with stories. The last day was the worst since I am physically better and more alert. Luckily, a chaplain came in just before I left. It gave me a chance to talk about my feelings. So now I have at least a month of recovery. I have had an online buying spree since I got home. I buy things when I feel anxious and unhappy. Now it is time to stop. and return to a healthier schedule.
